BREAKING: Police Teargas, Arrest #ENDSARS Protesters At National Assembly Complex In Abuja

Some #ENDSARS protesters have been teargassed and arrested at the gate of National Assembly by the Nigeria Police. The demonstators gathered in front of the complex to paint #ENDSARS grafiti on the floor to remind the Government of their demands. Peaceful #EndSARS protesters disrupting after being fired teargas at, by the Nigerian police. The peaceful protest was violently disrupted when the police group fired teargas and arrested about four of the demonstators. Some of the protesters were also beaten while persons passing at the place were harassed. As at the time of filing this report, human amd vehicular movement in the area had been restricted. The Nigerian Government has declared Thursday, October 29, 2020, as a public holiday across the country.The holiday is to mark this year's Eid-El-Maulud in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement on Tuesday in a statement by Mohammed Manga, Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry. Nigeria’s president announced 51 civilians were killed in unrest following days of peaceful protests over police abuses and blamed “hooliganism” for the violence while asserting security forces used “extreme restraint”. People demonstrate on the street to protest against police brutality in Lagos, Nigeria,  President Muhammadu Buhari’s comments in a statement released late Friday are expected to further inflame tensions after Amnesty International reported soldiers shot and killed at least 12 demonstrators Tuesday night as a large crowd sang the national anthem. The Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) later had a meeting on Thursday, October 22 regarding the ongoing strike accross the country. An agreement is yet to be reached on the payment structure which leads to deadlock of the meeting. As earlier planned, the meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities towards ending the ongoing strike action was held yesterday. The two parties agreed on almost all the other issues except one which made the meeting to end in deadlock. The two parties were unable to reach an agreement on the payment platform that would be used in disbursing the salary arrears and the N30 billion Earned Allowance of the university lecturers. The  FG  team led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had offered to pay the salary arrears and the N30 billion Earned Allowances of the university Lecturers through the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System platform pending the roll-
